Game Development

Browser and mobile games, and game mechanics applied to training, marketing and engagement.

Two kinds of request come to us here. The first is an actual game: a browser or mobile title with its own art, mechanics and progression. The second is a business that wants the mechanics without the game, usually for training, a marketing campaign, or getting staff to finish something they keep putting off.

For browser work we build with HTML5 and WebGL so it runs from a link with nothing to install, which matters for a campaign where every extra step loses players. For mobile we use Unity where the project justifies it, and a web build where it does not, because an app store submission adds weeks and a review queue to every fix.

The less obvious half is the back end. Leaderboards, saved progress, in-app purchases and analytics all need a server that will not fall over on launch day, and a design that assumes players will try to cheat, because some of them will.

We will tell you honestly when a game is the wrong instrument. If the aim is to explain a product, a good interactive page usually costs a fraction and works better.

What is included

  • Concept and mechanics agreed before production art begins
  • Playable prototype early, so the feel can be judged rather than imagined
  • HTML5 or WebGL build that runs from a link, or a Unity build for stores
  • Back end for scores, saved progress and player accounts
  • Server-side validation of anything worth cheating for
  • Analytics on where players stop playing
  • Asset pipeline and source project files handed over
